The Polish have a long proud history of a strong Calvary going back centuries.  The Winged Hussars are at the core of that history.  Normally the wings they wore where only used during parades and ceremonies, but there are stories of them wearing them into combat as well.

The Hussars were know to use lances, but also a very unique riding saber, called a Szabla.  The Szable was less curved than other sabres, but far longer and heavier than an average saber.  This unique saber made it formidable when used on horseback to spear and hack through armored foes, using the weapons extra length and mass to their advantage, this weapon was a prized possession.

These Hussars still have their Szabla, but they also have a PKM Machine Gun,  instead of a lance, and their horses carry extra ammo as well on their flanks.  Riding into combat with their wings on, and outfitted in a mix of traditional armor and modern gear, they can attack and move quickly to their next target.
